Update May 18 2021
Hi all!
As one of the first updates leading up to May 15, we’re chuffed that Wayne has made a full recovery from the dreaded lurgy/Covi thing- I trust that none of our members contract the bug. Its quite debilitating to put it mildly.
It’s been heartening to see the ‘uptake’ on the website with members BIOS. To those that have contributed- thanks.
To those that are still getting roundtuit, please hurry along.
We’re still missing a few chaps, listed below- please make an attempt to get messages through to them. We’re under a year away from the BIG FOUR ZERO and need to ramp up on that level.
On the above, we’ve identified a few venues- The Barrel, The MOTH club in Parkhurst and Old Parks. In the former, if it’s still standing, still gets the #1 spot- large, hygienic kitchen, ample parking and location and over and above that, we can let our hair down at The Barrel, which many of you have been to- its large patio is begging for a good party.
Old Parks is an option, but not great-we can’t use the main facility and the Bowling Club will have to suffice- it’s a bit dingy to be honest IRO toilets, kitchen etc while the bar isn’t great either. Grant Jackson has an idea and when this tediousfokkiglockdown departs, will revert to us.
The MOTH is ok with plenty parking as well along with its location in the ‘Hurst. It however doesn’t have a full kitchen, but again, Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance, so that shouldn’t be an issue on the day.
Again, the venue and format are not cast in stone……
Thanks to input from those in the group (much needed advice I might add) we’ll have branding, a gift of sorts and importantly, an “After Party, the details of which remain latent, but which promises to be a proper send off, especially to the expats.
I can, however, give you a hint and heads-up as to the after party.
Don’t plan anything for late Saturday/early Sunday.
While some will balk at the idea at too an earlier start, we’ll probably kick-off at noon and enjoy lunch (see blotting paper) during the course of the afternoon. Several old boys from different alumni would like to join us at some stage and we’ll define that closer toward the time?
I’ve tasked a few members with speeches/oratory duties at around four, at which time we’ll get the afterparty thing a deserved announcement.
Obviously, we’ll extend invites to certain teachers the we still have contact with.
So far, so good.

Please note!
While we initially planned to host our bash on 15 May 2021, this could well move out to later in 2021 (logically) thanks to this nasty bug. Obviously the local yocals aren’t/won’t be too badly affected by traffic restrictions by then, but air travel has a serious cloud hanging over it.
The okes travelling from abroad need a minimum of 3 months advance warning to book travel at sensible rates (among other things).
We’re hoping to take a decision on this later this year, or early January sometime.
